K-ON!! DX Figure Romeo ver. Akiyama Mio

This is a review about a PVC figure of the anime character 'Mio' from the anime 'K-ON!'. Mio Akiyama is the mature but scaredy-cat-bassist, and second vocalist of the light music club and Ho-Kago Tea Time. Even though she acts mature, calm, and collected most of the time, she still freaks out from things she's afraid of or things that are gross or pertains to gore. Because of her extreme shyness, she chose bass over the more conspicuous guitar. Here she's shown wearing a romeo outfit while looking terrified.

At first the figure seems a bit out of character. Mio's shyness makes her a weird choice for a romeo outfit, being the center of a play. But her terrified expression is totally in character when you look at the situation.  And that's what makes the figure cute. When we take a closer look to the figure I must say that the face is pretty good executed. You can clearly see that it's Mio which isn't always the case with cheap figures. The hair looks a bit weird at first glance, because Mio's hair is mostly down. Nevertheless I think her new hairstyle suits her. Only her pony, with the two long bangs, looks a bit odd in my opinion. Talking about the outfit: as far as I know the outfit isn't shown in the anime. So I don't really have a clue why she's wearing a romeo outfit. But it doesn't matter because I think the idea works and is quite original. So Banpresto delivered a cute and shy Mio, just like we know her.

I was actually quite surprised about this figure. It looked really nice for being quite cheap. The painting and sculpting is done very secure. It's a very detailed figure and almost looks as good as an expensive PVC figure. The absence of visible seems probably has a great deal in that. The glow of her boots looks really nice and also the flows in her dress are very realistic. I wasn't disappointed at all!

I had some trouble to get her long sword fit in the figure. I actually had to ask some help to get it in.

The figure was in multiple pieces: her upper body, her lower body, her short sword, her long sword and her ground plate. Even so the building takes no time (only fitting the long sword can cause some problems).
