Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Masters Trading Figures: One Coin Grande Vol. 2 ~Ancient Duel~

This is a review about trading figures of the anime 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Masters'. The specific characters talked about in this review are: The dark magician, Dark magician girl, Seto Kaiba (Priest Seto), Atem, Touzokuou Bakura (Thief Bakura), Yami Malik and Ishizu ishtar. All of them are wearing their outfits as they appear in the fifth season of Yu-gi-oh!, when they are in Egypt.

The figures are made like they appear in season five from Yu-Gi-Oh!. In this season the characters travel back to their past in Egypt. I have to say that all their outfits are very matching to the ones in the anime. Even the tiniest details are visible on the figures. This is visible when you look at the photo I took from Ishizu Ishtar (underneath this review). The details on her dress and the necklaces she wears are an exact copy from the anime. Also the hairstyles from the figures match the anime, which is often a big challenge for the sculptors. The only weird thing that doesn't totally match the anime are the shapes of their heads. But I don't think that this bothers much. But I can't say the same about their eyes. The figures have these hypnotize eyes which they don't have in the anime. They have these eyes because they are "one coin"- figures, these figures always have these hypnotize eyes. Even so I still think the eyes look rather weird.

I was really amazed by the quality the figures had, honestly. Mostly with trading figures you can notice that the painting is rather poorly done and that also the sculpting isn't quite what it would seem. But these figures blew me away with their details! Even the tiniest details are sculpted so accurate with an eye for detail. Also the painting of the figures aren't done in a rush but the painter took his time for it and that paid off. As a key example for the high quality you should take a look at the photo I took from Yami Malik (underneath this review). When you look at his duel disk you should see all the details in sculpting and painting! It's almost impossible to paint all those details on the duel disk and even so the painter pulled it off which deserves a big pat on the shoulder! Also when we look at the painting of the hair of the figures, you can see that these are very well done. The painting of the hair of Thief Bakura for example is done with a nice shade of silver in it which gives it a nice touch. And the colours used in Atem's hair are so bright which makes it a wonderful piece of art. And last but not least, even the ground plates are decorated very beautiful, this isn't often the case with trading figures so this is a nice surprise. The great eye for details also explains the more expensive price of the figures, so even though you pay rather much for a 5cm figure you get a great deal of details in return.

The construction of the figures was very easy! The figures themselves were in one piece so you only had to put them in the ground plate which went really smoothly. Also you had two quote signs which you had to put in two beams and after that you had to put each beam in the ground plate which also went very well!

The figures were all in one piece. They came with a ground plate, two signs with quotes and two plastic beams to hold the quotes. So the only building you have to do is put the figure in the plate, put the quote-sign in a beam and put the beam in the plate.
