TTGL Trading figures Vol 2 Kamina and Simon

This is a Review about two PVC trading figures of the anime 'Tengen toppa gurren lagann'. The character on the left is Kamina. Kamina is a young man from Giha Village and the founder of Team Gurren. A central character to the show, Kamina is the former leader of Team Gurren. Shown on the right is Simon in his mature version. Simon is the central protagonist of the anime. He begins the story as a short, unassuming and lonely young boy, but grows up into a tall, commanding and well-loved man. To many more, he is a legendary hero who overcame impossible odds and great personal adversity for the good of mankind.

Their clothes are similar to the ones they wear in the anime. Also the tattoos of Kamina are all painted carefully over his body. And even the bottom details of his worn off cloak are very well sculpted. Now.. about his head. Sorry but that has to be the most creepy rape-faced figure seen in the merchandise world. His badass smile made place for this scary/pervy laugh. Also the bangs before his eyes aren't really pointy and don't look to well. As far as Simon is concerned his head also isn't quite what it should be but it does look better than Kamina's head. Also his hair looks way better than Kamina's. Nevertheless no one can get around the fact that these figures have some visible flaws.

As I already said, Kamina's tatoo's and cape are well done. Only his cape does look weird at his neck, it looks like the cape is floating above his shoulders instead of lying on them. Also the Gurren Laggan symbol on Kamina's cloak is very badly painted as you can see in the pictures. It really ruins his epic cape. Even worse, when you take his cape off he has this hole in his back?! The hole is for keeping the cape in place but as you remove the cape it becomes visible. It's just wrong for a figure designer to agree for a removable cloak when you make a hole in his back? It would have been better if the designer just attached the cape to Kamina and didn't made it removable. Or made it removable but didn't make a hole in his back and let the cloak hang loosely around his shoulders. It's not like the hole is really helping to get it in the right place anyway. Simon's figure also has the Gurren Lagann symbol painted badly on his cape but not as badly as on Kamina's cape. Also Simon's cape is attached to him so he doesn't have a hole in his back. Nevertheless is all the other painting work okay.

Since they don't have a ground plate but a supporting block i'll talk about that. Kamina's supporting block fits well and it make him stand stable unlike Simon's. One of Simon's foot is for some reason twisted very badly so he falls over when you even look at him, even though he has a supporting block! It's very annoying.

The figures were in in different pieces as shown on the photo's, and are meant to built. The Simon figure came with two versions of his arm which you can switch however you like it. But the when I put on the other arm, he has this weird pose, so I never use the other arm.
